iPhone 14 vs iPhone 15: What are the differences?

The two phones iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 are "one old and one new", which creates different stimuli for different users. The largest upgrade we've seen in a long time is the iPhone 15 vs the iPhone 14. While the iPhone 15 retains many of the design concepts from the iPhone 14, there are differences between the two phones' outward appearances, and the iPhone 15 also offers some upgrades to a number of other key aspects. The following are the primary points of difference:

Design

The two phones are expectedly very similar in terms of build and materials. Their frames are made of aluminum. The back and front sides are covered with Corning's protective glass - Gorilla Glass on the back and a more durable variety on the front. Apple calls it a Ceramic Shield. It's the same on both models. Although the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 have the same overall size at 6.1 inches, you'll find that they are very different in design.

1. Dynamic Island:

The iPhone 14 uses a 60Hz notch screen (1200nit), and the iPhone 15 uses a 60Hz smart island screen (1600nit). The standard model of iPhone 14 looks basically the same as previous generations of recently launched models. iPhone 14 features the original notch, which is that small rectangle of black space that has traditionally appeared at the top of iPhone since the introduction of iPhone X.
Dynamic Island is a pill-box shaped design feature that bubbles up alerts and Live Activities—so you never miss a thing. You'll be able to see who's calling, check the weather, track your ride share, see the takeout progress, the taxi license plate number, the plane boarding gate, the music being played, etc.

    2. Color Comparison:

Both phones have a lovely aluminum and glass design with an incredibly durable Ceramic Shield that is resistant to water and dust. However, the iPhone 15 features a gorgeous back glass with color interwoven throughout.
Apple offers a variety of color options for the iPhone 15. Additionally striking are the aluminum alloy design and the multicolored back glass. They come in black, blue, green, yellow, and pink. This phone is a great option if you enjoy pink.
The iPhone 14 hasn't altered all that much, which is excellent news for people who adore the classic style of their devices. It offers a wide range of lovely colors, such as blue, purple, yellow, midnight, starlight, and bright red, even though it lacks pink. The iPhone 14's colors are richer and more vibrant.

      3. Display Comparison:

The iphone 14 uses a flat phone’s body, while the 15 adds a slightly curved design to the edges of the fuselage. Another aspect of the new iPhone 15 design that could be noticed if you look into details is the new rounded chamfer on the aluminum middle frame going all around the phone's body. Thanks to it, handling is now nicer and more comfortable.

        4. Brightness Comparison:

However, it is one of the major upgrades on the iPhone 15's screen as it gets notably brighter than the iPhone 14. The iPhone 15 has relatively high screen peak brightness specifications, 1,000 nits maximum brightness, 1,600 nits peak brightness (HDR), and 2,000 nits peak brightness (outdoor). The iPhone 14 has a maximum brightness of 800 nits and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits.
In addition, the display on the iPhone 15 is also just slightly higher in resolution at 1179 x 2556 pixels, compared to 1170 x 2532 pixels on the iPhone 14. That's hardly a noticeable difference.

          Performance

The 14 uses the A15 chip, and the 15 uses the A16 chip. The performance gap is about 10%. Both are equipped with 5-core GPUs, which can provide lightning-fast performance and ultra-fast 5G-capable devices. The iPhone 14 is equipped with the A15 Bionic chipset. 6-core central processing unit, 5-core image processor, and 16-core neural network engine, with stronger performance output.

But the iPhone 15 should also perform much better than the iPhone 14. Apple includes its A16 Bionic processor in its latest phone, which gives you faster everyday performance, better graphics performance while gaming and improved efficiency. This ultra-fast A16 Bionic chipset powers all of the phone’s advanced features like computational photography, dynamic islands, and phone voice isolation, and also helps extend battery life. The newer chip also means you’ll get software updates for longer on the iPhone 15.

          Camera

Both phones have features such as photon engine, deep fusion, night scene mode, portrait lighting effects (six effects), etc. Both phones have 12-megapixel selfie cameras that should perform identically, so you’ll be getting solid selfie quality across both.

But the iPhone 15’s cameras are a big improvement over the 14.

In the camera department, one of the major new additions to the iPhone 15 mix is an all-new 48MP main camera, four times the megapixels of the iPhone 14’s primary lens. The new 48MP default photos from the main camera look extra sharp and tend to offer better and more fine detail than the 12MP stills of the iPhone 14.

What’s more, you also get an improved 12-megapixel ultrawide camera with less lens flare, better portrait mode photos and 4K video support in Cinematic mode. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14’s camera setup is a lot more basic, both of which were carried over from the iPhone 13, It has a 12-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide,The parameters are indeed no better than 15.

            Charging & Battery

            1. Battery Life:

Although Apple increased the battery capacity of the iPhone 15 compared to the iPhone 14, the device's weight and dimensions remain the same. The battery's capacity has gone from 3279 mAh to 3349 mAh, however it's not a significant gain.

The iPhone 14 boasts a 90-hour battery life, while the iPhone 15 has an overall battery life of 98 hours. More significantly, the iPhone 15's battery life is prolonged when using it for on-screen activities like viewing videos and accessing the web.

            2. Charging Speed and Lighting:

The iPhone 15 has a new USB-C port, while the iPhone 14 has a Lightning port. The charging port is compatible with Android and both support 20W charging. A 20-watt charger can charge the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 from empty to 50% in thirty minutes. The iPhone 15 charges significantly faster than the iPhone 14 at the end of the charge cycle, even though neither device charges very quickly.
